Configure your Outlook Express with the SMTP service

This tutorial is designed to help users learn how to configure their Outlook Express to be used to send email with the SMTP service from DNS Made Easy.

If you have your own email server and you want to relay mail through the SMTP service there here is a list of links to help configure your mail server.

Step 1
You will first need a the following information about each account that you want to configure. You will want to visit your SMTP account screen by:

• Log in to DNS Made Easy
• Click on Mail Services
• Click on SMTP Services
  

Username

This is specified by you when you create your SMTP account.

Password

This is specified by you when you create your SMTP account.

The SMTP mail server

This is the SMTP server assiged to your SMTP account.

This picture shows where you can find this information on your SMTP screens.

Step 2
Start your Outlook Express program.

Step 3
Click on "Tools" from the Menu Bar and then select "Accounts...". You will then select the option to add a new mail account or you may modify an existing account. (Some versions of Outlook Express require you to add an account first and then modify your account).

Step 4
You will then enter your SMTP server name and indicate that your outgoing mail requires authentication. Then click on the button that allows you to configure your additional settings.

Step 5
Enter your username and password in the correct text boxes. NOTE: You do not want to use Secure Password Authentication with the DNS Made Easy SMTP services.

Step 6
You only need to do this step if your ISP is blocking outgoing port 25.
You will need to change your client so your outgoing port is another port that DNS Made Easy allows connection to SSL or non-SSL: 21, 25, 5521, 5525, 7721, 7725
SSL only: 465, 5555
