Verify your DNS in DNS Made Easy

Many users often want to verify that their DNS is functioning as designed. Fortunately there are many tools out on the Internet that allow you to do this very easily.

The first thing you will want to make sure is that your domain is "Active" and that it is running on the name servers that are assigned to you. If it is not active / created yet then you will need to wait a few hours to make sure your domain is on all of the name servers that were assigned to you.

Managed DNS - Your domain will be listed as being "Active" in your domain listing screen.
Secondary DNS - Your domain will be clickable (hyperlinked) and the "Created" date will be filled in.

How to test your DNS at DNS Made Easy "before" you notify your registrar to have your domain use the DNS Made Easy name servers.

You can use the "host" or "dig" utilities to verify the records on the particular DNS Made Easy name server. "host" and "dig" can be downloaded for free at ISC.

Verifying that "www.dnsmadeeasy.com" resolves on the ns1.dnsmadeeasy.com name server.
- Example using host:
  - > host www.dnsmadeeasy.com. ns1.dnsmadeeasy.com.
- Example using dig:
  - >dig www.dnsmadeeasy.com. @ns1.dnsmadeeasy.com.
