Is this service free?
Yes, DNS Made Easy provides this service for free for everyone.
The only thing we ask in exchange is that everyone please use our
sponsors. Signing up for a free credit card doesn't cost you anything
but time. If you can use our phone or ISP sponsors that would be
excellent.

Where can I find a list of free clients?
To make DNS Made Easy even easier we are making an IP update available
by passing the parameters to a HTTP request. There are currently
clients for both Windows and UNIX-like machines. For more information
and to see the current list of clients that others have developed
go to the "Record Listing" page for your domain. Then
next to the A record of your choice click on "DDNS".
Note: Your domain and record must be set with the advanced
"Dynamic IP" setting when it was first created to use
this service.

Where can I find the Record ID to be
used with the Dynamic DNS (DDNS) clients?
The "Record ID" is found on the Dynamic DNS page for that
record. To get there you must do the following:
- Log into DNS Made Easy
- Click Manage Domain and Records
- Click Edit under the Records column for the domain
you want the record for.
- Click DDNS for the A record that you want the Record
ID for.
Note: Your domain and A record must be set with the advanced
"Dynamic IP" setting when it was first created to use
this service.

How soon will DNS changed take affect?
Domains (Zones) are added into our DNS name servers every 30 minutes
for our Primary Static / Dynamic IP solution. Once your domain has
been created you will receive an email.
Records are added to the domains immediately. If you are changing
your record remember that it will take the TTL (time to live)
seconds to expire before your new changes go into affect. You set
the TTL to whatever you wish but it is monitored. Reasonable values
for a static IP are 21600 seconds (6 hours). Reasonable values for
a Dynamic IP are 30 to 60 seconds.
Domains which use the Secondary DNS solution are scheduled to be
entered no earlier than 48 after you enter the data. This should
give you more than enough time to configure your DNS to allow transfers
to our Secondary Nameservers.

What extra steps would I need to take when using
TSIG with my Secondary DNS from DNS Made Easy?
One problem with TSIG is that it requires time synchronization. The timestamp
in the TSIG record is useful for preventing replay attacks, but it may cause problems
if the clocks on the name servers are not synchronized. To solve this problem
DNS Made Easy servers all use NTP.
