DNS Made Easy email server forwarding service allows you to forward email from a single domain to a different email server on any available port. This can be useful if your ISP is blocking incoming port 25 and you are unable to receive email on your own mail server.
How Mail Server Forwarding works:
DNS Made Easy will accept the email for your domain and forward it to your email server on any port you configure. We will provide you with additional MX records that will store and forward the email to the appropriate server.

Configuration:
Add your domain within the DNS Made Easy control panel as well as the host name and port you would like your email delivered to on the destination server. You will then change your MX records to use DNS Made Easy’s mail server forwarding servers and you are ready to accept mail on your system. This service will also work with dynamic IP’s using the DNS Made Easy Dynamic DNS solution.
NOTE: DNS Made Easy DNS Service is not required to use our Mail Server Forwarding Services. You can add the appropriate MX records for your domain on any system.
Quotas and Limitations:
Each domain is allowed up to 1 GB or 100,000 messages in queue.
Each domain is allowed to transfer 10 GB of email per month.
Additional Documentation:
The DNS Made Easy mail server forwarding service is not an anti-spam service. But we do simple email checking to help prevent spammers from using our email servers as an open relay to your mail servers. We currently:
- Check to make sure the server sending the email is matching who they say they are. Many spamming email servers / software will pretend to be a different system. So reverse DNS is required as it is also a requirement by the SMTP RFCs.
- Check to make sure the “from” mail address is valid.
- Check to make sure the email headers are properly formatted. Many spamming mailers do not comply with RFCs regarding proper SMTP headers.
- Utilize Greylisting: Greylisting is a simple method of defending electronic mail users against e-mail spam. It is the best way of blocking most spam without using content filters, which can cause false positives. In short, a mail transfer agent that uses greylisting will “temporarily reject” (a 450 error code) any email from a sender it does not recognize. If the mail is legitimate, the originating server will try again to send it later usually within a few minutes, at which time the destination will accept it. If the mail is from a spammer, it will not be retried so the spam will not be relayed through our systems and on to your mail server.
- Utilize the Spamhaus RBL as well as an internal RBL.
